Sverre Simonsen

Hei!

I'm Sverre, and one of the co-founders of ROEST. Our goal, from the beginning, has been to make coffee roasting as easy as possible, without compromising the quality.

Our new webportal is now up and running with lots of new features, but we still need your help to continue improving.

Here you can share ideas, report bugs, ask for new features  and we will try to answer you as soon as possible.

All the best,

Sverre.                                                                                                                                                                                              27.12.2022

Hi, Sverre, I will like to have real time curve adjustment of temps, air and rotation directly from application using the touch screen, beside editing the profiles.  I know, this is a big one🙂  And please keep the minimalist, clean look, i love it.  Thanks!

HI Sverre, this is greatly appreciated.
Creating and editing profiles could certainly be much easier than the current method of [ ... , ... ] for every data and second. Moving from a coding feel to a more natural user interface while creating would be great.

Also when I roast with a profile and then like it, my actual bean curve has hundreds of data points which I should sort through, eliminate 99% to just get a few points of inflection or change. The same concept of simplification would be great.

I have been testing, and enjoy, the auto drop feature... however, I wonder if it is possible to create for different profiles an auto-drop after first crack which is easily changed. Presently it feels more like firmware on the machine than software through profiles on the website. But that could be my limited user experience.

Perhaps a simple export data sheet where main variables (Charge,Time,Temp,Etc.) are quickly seen, but then a graph or spreadsheet type chart are also available. I will often do a few sample roasts for a client and find myself using screenshots and my own language to communicate what I am sure your software could export even more professionally.

Thanks for asking and considering!

Some nice PID settings that works with BT profiles 😉

Hi, Lupo!

Thanks for the inputs and nice words! (we will keep the clean look for sure!)

Airflow as you probably know can be adjusted directly from the main screen, and RPM of the mechanical agitation can be adjusted from the settings. Do I understand correctly that you would like changes to these values to be stored in the profile?

You can also override the Environmental Temperature (ET) directly from the main screen, simply press it and turn the rotary knob.  Another hidden feature is to press the ET before you press "First Crack", this will override your profile and keep the last temperature throughout the rest of the roast.

This one has been on our to-do list for a long time. ÃƒÂ°Ã…¸ËœÂ¬

We would like to make it a smarter function, where the machine follows an Environmental Temperature (ET) to begin with and then smoothly go over to a Bean Temperature (ET) profile after the tipping point (where the bean temperature starts to increase again).

Thanks for your input, Thomas!

Hi, Adam!

I) Yes, we will re-make the entire user interface. Click and add points, drag them around etc.

II) I think I understand what you mean. You are talking about copying a profile, correct?  And yes, today every point will be copied and it would be much nicer if only a few points would be representing the profile so that its easier to make changes to it. Today, the best solution is to create a new profile the mimics what you want.

III) Could you clarify what you want with the profiles after the first crack? I'm not sure if I understood that one, sorry ÃƒÂ°Ã…¸ËœÂ¬

IV) Yes, we can remake the download CSV data from a log to work smoother, and we could make available a spreadsheet where these values could be uploaded? But perhaps a more elegant solution would be; in the logs, you can copy a link that would make that specific log available for anyone you share the link with?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Hei,

this is just a personal preference,I would like to set the maximum live view temperature near my max. roast temperature,
actually it is set to 325 degrees,so is it possible to adjust it by myself to 275?
New firmware works,is it a illusion, with the old firmware first crack was never later than 190,today 4 times in a row around 195.
Lights on/off is cool, thinking about the drum light, nice thing to have 😁

Thank you for the reply Sverre. A few delayed clarifying points herein:

III) Could you clarify what you want with the profiles after the first crack? I'm not sure if I understood that one, sorry ÃƒÆ’°Å¸ËœÂ¬

Auto-Drop feature seems set to 60 seconds regardless of other variables changed. This is 60 seconds after I press "first crack".

Perhaps I need to read my manual again, but I might want a 50 second autodrop for my Ethiopia profiles while I have a 70 second for my Kenyans, and so on. Aside from taking manual control - I wondered if this could be a part of the programming for each individual profile.

IV) Yes, we can remake the download CSV data from a log to work smoother, and we could make available a spreadsheet where these values could be uploaded? But perhaps a more elegant solution would be; in the logs, you can copy a link that would make that specific log available for anyone you share the link with?

I do like that idea. I think I only considered your links as something to share with another ROEST user who wanted to copy/paste my profile. But, if it was a static webpage where my Kenyan customer was able to view his link or share with his potential buyers, that would certainly have added value.

Appreciate your thoughts!

III)  To adjust the "auto-drop-feature" (renamed to development time) simply press it one time and adjust with the rotary knob. We decided not to make this a part of the profile to give the user more flexibility to adapt one profile to different coffees during roasting.

IV) Yes, it must be available to view for all that has access to that link, and not only ROEST customers.

that be great

how about an auto-charge function to improve workflow even more. Auto-Hopper would be a pretty cool feature

Could you explain more what you mean?

Hey Sverre,

I mean a fuction that charges the coffee automatically when the desired charge-temp is reached.

Also a preheat Profile were you can adjust the temperature would be cool!
